I had a brief but insightful chat with a Marriott executive this past Friday and we have agreed to a follow-up this coming week.
The hotel chain seems to understand the importance of "Working Anywhere" and is trying out all kinds of new things like those mentioned in my recent post on what Global Nomads Want.
What was rewarding to hear were the comments about things like in-room "task lighting" being set up over the bed be being installed on or in the headboard, the need for making all hotels wireless and the guidelines they are providing their hotel operators with regarding bandwidth being an "on-demand" service, not a fixed "we have just one T1" type of approach.
This is great news for the Road Warrior, but the issue remains how the individual hotel handles things. Thus the contributors to Working Anywhere will continue to write up results of stays and report to you honest, no holds barred reality in what its like to be able to be Working Anywhere.
