Block This, Block That---So Much For Open

Mobile Mavne Colin Gibbs at GigaOm, writes about Verizon Wireless blocking SMS messages from 4Info that are ad supported.

I'm trying to sort through this in my head, but I think it comes down to Verizon gearing up to be an ad sales force of their own. You see, networks by their very nature sell ads. TV networks. Cable networks. Radio networks. Print ad networks. So I think between FIOS and Mobile Verizon as a company starts to behave like a network, not just operate one.

Brings to mind my pet rant about texts. Att will not let me block trash texters that randomly find my iphone. I got so pissed i canceled texting. I now only use GV ( google voice) can't use all text'ing services but at least i can control it. ( and i have still managed to use about 1k texts per month without having it on my iphone bill.
