Skype and SIP- A Matter of When, Not If

I have to keep wondering when Skype will open up, ala OpenSkype from Gizmo5 and enable SIP to Skype calling? Will it be when the JoltID case gets settled, even if more is being made of it than maybe there should be?

The solution currently is OpenSkype, but if Skype decides to go SIP then the whole SIP industry would get a big shot in the arm. You see, I don't think the users of Skype care if it's a proprietary protocol or SIP, one which is open.

They just want to connect.
