We all have ideas we know one day will happen, and in the case of Paul Kapustka, who is now authoring SideCut Reports, he had an idea about bandwidth usage tracking that would help everyone who has an ISP who one day will start to measure. Can you spell CABLE and DSL providers? Wireless broadband suppliers? I can.
Well Paul has reminded us of his idea today.
This is very important because if the users can know what's happening with their usage they can preempt the ISP and order the level of service they really need.
For what its worth I'm all for tiered pricing. But with a very BIG BUT. I want to see with that GUARANTEED QoS and reliability. It's no longer about how fast as things like FiOS and fibre connections mean more speed, but packet lossless, jitterless, echoless traffic, that ensures VOIP, two way video, fast and secure uploads, etc. all occur so the users get what they are paying for.
Charge me more, but give me what we are paying for should be the model that tiered pricing delivers, otherwise, keep the same pricing schemes of today, and give everyone what the have now and watch it all jam up.
