I feel like I lost a friend. Like someone died...only no one did, except a blog.
I've been a reader of James Enck EuroTelcoblog from almost the start of his blogging days, and was, I think, one of the early VoIP bloggers who started to link to him. He was someone who I could run ideas past and get honest feedback.
I remember when Om started linking to James too. Then Jeff Pulver. I remember over coffee in Palo Alto when Om asked "who is this James dude. His stuff is great." One by one the blogosphere got to know James, and though we only met twice face to face, and even with 6,000 miles between us, James and his blog was someone and something you could count on for rock solid analysis, insight and opinion.
Some of you have asked me point blank, why the silence? Why has he gone to ground? Did I know what was up? And all you got was a smile, a nod and wink. You see, somethings need to remain private and confidential, and James is very good, as am I, at keeping things secret and quiet, as well as making things public in due time.
So, just when you think you know, you'll find out you don't. And for those who do know, we don't always have to tell.
Congrats dear friend. You'll be missed....until you rise again.
P.S. James...that parking ticket we got with Om eventually got dismissed.
Long live the Cabal.
