The HP Halo video meeting solution is not the same a what we all experience with desktop or laptop video conferencing. Neither is Cisco's Telepresense.
Both require lots of bandwidth. Ten megabites for Cisco I'm told by people who should know.
A new blogger on the scene, Gil Zino, who had experience at ITXC in the early VoIP days, has a first hand account of what it's like to be in a Halo meeting.
Gil calls it an exciting start and rightfully points out that the technology isn't for everyone.
Cisco (MPEG4) can go even higher than 10 megs (motion etc), but is light compared to HP (MPEG2) which requires a dedicated DS3.
