Over the weekend Google quietly launched their click to call service tied in with Google Maps. How it works is best read here.
How is this useful? Well for starters, now when you're always connected you can avoid directory assistance charges. When you think how much money is spent per year calling 411 in the USA alone, it's staggering.
Second, the call set up process is great for road warriors who want to make a call without dialing while they're working online. Just find the business you want, enter your phone/mobile phone number and go.
Where does this really come in handy? When you're talking to someone and you need to get off the phone? Go to Google Maps, click on a number you want to call you and get the call waiting tone and say, "oh, I have to go."
On a related note, Peter Csathy chimes in on Click to Call as well.
