Years ago when I was working in sports and arena management I first heard of the city of Milton Keynes in the UK when the parent company I was working for received the management contract for the new venue. It was the first major arena to be built in the UK in many years.
Now the modern city of Milton Keynes has announced they will be the first to deploy WiMax, providing high speed Internet coverage across the city on a staged rollout basis. WiMax will be built out by Intel and Pipex and is a move to get around the existing mobile operators that are choking people with higher than needed prices and at allowing innovation to be deployed.
Other UK cities looking at WiMax are London and Manchester.
