Covad, which already has a consumer VoIP deal with Earthlink for Line Powered Voice service, is finally putting their GoBeam acquisition into play in bigger ways.
This week they made a move to expand their reach with a reseller deal for the business market.
Covad, even with their direct model really is trying hard to be the DSL and VoIP wholesaler, and with their WiMax plans around the NextWeb acquisition, they are looking really hard at doing all they can to cut the cord and ties to the telcos who networks and central offices they have to wire through. While their dependency today on the Central Offices is rather heavy, if they secure more wireless rights and if they deploy they will be in a far better position and end up having transformed themselves from an almost dead DSL carrier into a real next generation communications company.
