East Bay start up Jangl has hit the big time with their seven million dollar series A round.
Jangl has been doing what can best be described as semi stealth marketing, something many new companies seem to be doing. They educate a few about what people think they are doing, and then go off in a slightly different direction.
This is done to keep the competition at arms length and wondering. Om promises a more expanded report.
Another company playing this game is Grand Central Communications, run by ex Yahoo/Dialpad leader Craig Walker. Their Project Care effort has been a success, giving homeless who want to work a way to give out a phone number that's not the shelter. But Craig and company are up to more than being charitable, especially given his background at Dialpad, so keep an eye peeled for what they are up to when the summer ends.
