Jeff isn't the only person getting exceited about Video on the web. Besides client SightSpeed who will be one of the featured demonstrators at this year's On Hollywood event in May, I'm also getting jazzed about some other companies that provide either the picks and shovels or serve as the general store to deliver video content by making it more accessible.
My friend Bill Volk has something very hot on his hands, called http://www.mynumo.com/. It's MySpace for mobile. I've known Bill for years, back when we both tried to launch an online coupon venture called Save.com which I helped get funded but never worked for. Bill then had a run with a concept called BonusMobile where he conceived the idea for Rude Tones and also convinced the Wayans Brothers involved. What Bill has now with MyNuMo.com is generational and timely.
VC's are very hot on the MySpace trail, looking for the next big thing and mobile is the hot ticket. With his already existing friendships in the mobile operator space, and those already in place micropayment processing directly with mobile operators here in the USA and next around the globe, Volk is poised very nicely to be a general store for consumers of user generated content that provides even more individuality to the "I" generation teens. Besides, his site is up, running, has more and more traffic every day and what's more he's giving the carriers a higher monthly ARPU.
My Paris based wine and dine buddy, and uber video blogger Rodrigo Sepulveda Schulz is the mind behind a very hip mobile concept called vpod.tv. He's been working non-stop on this since the start of the year and is desperate need of a vacation. While I can't go into details about what he's got up his sleeve I can tell you that he's not just heading to Innovate Europe just for the food.
Stay tuned!
