Every once and a while I get sent something of interest. This week a non-Bluetooth headset called the PhoneRanger arrived from Drew Robertson, a New York entrepreneur.
It plugs into the USB port for power and the audio in and out jacks. I tried it with both Skype and the XTEN eyeBeam via Broadvoice and was amazed at the sound quality.
While it doesn't take advantage of the fidelity range the way my Apple earphones do on the Mac, the clarity was there without any of the Bluetooth related issues I've experienced with both Skype and eyeBeam.
Given the $69.00 price point, this is something that softphone users will enjoy. It's easy to use, wireless and works without any configuration.
