Time For EcoSystem Support for Mobile VoIP

EQO hitting the skids isn't really good news for the mobile VoIP industry. It shows that brute force carrier driven approaches drive companies out of business.

Hopefully the carriers begin to adopt the Microsoft approach of keeping their ultimate friends alive. When Microsoft fueled Apple back in the 90's it created a competitive friend. Now that Linux is in place, Apple becomes a valuable ally to Microsoft.

Carriers would be smart to partner with emerging Mobile VoIP companies, and eco system players like Microsoft, Apple and Google, all of which have carrier relationships, would be smart to help the mobile VoIP carriers get on their devices (i.e. Windows Mobile, iPhone and Android G1) with the right kind of support to enable things like Fixed Mobile Convergence, Mobile VoIP, more UMA, etc.
