American Airlines to Block Skype on In Flight WiFi

This shows how technology illiterate some people at American Airlines must be.

Blocking a widely used IM service and comparing it to a cell phone.

Ok. If they want to block the voice traffic that's one thing. But to make the statement that blocking Skype is in keeping with the federal ban on cell phones shows a complete lack of understanding of the full capabilities of the service. To not say they are blocking any other services also unfairly singles out Skype and in my mind creates grounds for selective persecution of Skype users. Now if they end up blocking all IM that opens up a whole other can of worms.
