Verizon's Ten Hot Trends For Business

Verizon announced a list of ten hot trends that will be favored by business in 2008. Many, if not all of them, leverage IP based communications.

While it is nice to talk about trends, what I'm not seeing is how Verizon plans to integrate all of this together, especially between their wireline and wireless sides of the business units. A lot of what they are referring to involves the concept of portability, not only mobility. How they address that will impact just how far the extended enterprise really goes.

As for the global brand, it's obvious that both Verizon and AT&T are playing now for global customers, and are making strides in that direction. The other tell that I'm seeing is Verizon's interest in Telepresence, which would indicate that relationships with Cisco, HP and possibly LifeSize have to be part of their roadmap for business in order to deliver real time, HD based video-conferencing.
