    NetZero Dropping Voice Service

Gary Kim writes up the scheduled shuttering of voice services by dial up Internet Service Provider Netzero. I've heard from friends in the industry for some time how the service's customer base was being shopped around for almost six months or so, without any real takers.

First the asking price was too high for many, but in reality there's not much there.

As Gary points out, these are high churn, low value customers. They are also mostly on dial up, which makes the Packet8 acquisition of the customer list interesting but not needle moving in the long run.
