    Actually there is a video conferencing system for small and medium enterprises that's cheaper than both Tandberg & Polycom and offers quality upto and beyond 1080p HD.

    It's from a startup company called Vidyo (formerly known as Layered Media Inc.) at which I work (full disclosure). Our technology is both error resilient (checkout: http://www.vidyo.com/vidyo_wellknown.html) over the internet and adaptive to various bandwidths available. Above all, it's cheap as it does not require an expensive MCU!
