Is SAMSUNG Becoming A Global Business Telco?

I wrote in the news and notes column about a new Samsung monitor.

A new series of Samsung monitors have Voice and Video capabilities embedded in. What's interesting is Samsung appears to have developed their own applications as well as making it possible for the monitor to work with third party software also.

With Samsung also supplying DSL and ADSL2+ technology I started to wonder if they are also making the equipment "smart" all the way through. If so, they have all the makings of entering the telecommunications game a different way.

    Figure it out..

    1) Retailers like BestBuy, Circuit City and Frys all sell their hardware

    2) Carriers buy their DSL technology

    3) Broadband knows know barriers

    4) Embed voice and video software in every monitor you sell (Just like Apple is doing)

The opportunity is there and Samsung has the global presence and distribution. With Speakeasy now owned by BestBuy and with Samsung one of BestBuy's biggest suppliers the concept is not to out there to not make sense at least here in the USA.
