    Skype Continues To Lose Relevance

Flavor of the Month? Hit of the Week? Pick of the Day? I recognize that like my brothers in the blogosphere that we tend to like things earlier and at the same time suffer burnout faster than the average user. We're also all early barometers to what the user market's overall reaction will be like in the future. That's why I'm not surprised that so many "fans" of Skype are starting to feel so non-plused.

I'm in that crowd too because the quality issue of voice offnet doesn't equal the on-net call experience. When I compare this to GizmoProject's quality, largely due to their voice transport deal with Level3, I tend to join in with Ted Wallingford, Alec Saunders and Ken Camp in the perspective.

Pretty much the only thing keeping Skype on my computers today is the community and the ability to Instant Message with them. Once Gizmo cracks the Skype IM platform, like they have done with AOL and Yahoo the value of Skype gets more marginalized as nothing then remains better, just bigger, and in my book that isn't always the only way to go.
