Martin's Why Doesn't It Just Work Department

Martin continues his ongoing "it's not working" tirade on companies that offer services he USED to like.

This time its Skype and Jajah.

What we're entering into is the "best efforts" grade of service, versus the "it just works right." Too many companies go into beta and never come out. They just keep saying "we're improving our user experience" and then dry up the VC invested cash under the guise of "development" or "cultivating users to better develop the platform" or "we're determining our market entry strategy" or the best one "we're looking to see what it takes to scale." All of these are the usual precursors to "our revenue model will be based on X and Y."

In the words of Tony Soprano, "forgettaboutit." We're not in the "lets experiment" phase after a year of being "public." Companies that have a real product and a real product strategy who eventually want to sell something get to "real" state in an orderly and timely manner.

To me, many of the services Martin is getting all cranky over are just Beta with price tags.
