    The Next Generation of SightSpeed

I've been keeping this news from client SightSpeed under wraps, but there's no keeping secrets from Om Malik, who now, out on his own is looking really to go after the big news and scoop the rest of the media via the GigaOm blog and his assembled team of reporters and bloggers, all of whom are first rate.

Somehow he stumbled on to the "skunk works" project that the boys in Berkley have been working on the last few months around the upcoming release of SightSpeed 5.0, which beyond having absolutely drop dead gorgeous video, will likely offer SlingBox like place-shifting technology.

I first saw a demo of Sightspeed TV just before the July 4th holiday break and walked away with my jaw wide open as the team at SightSpeed kept it very much underwraps. Like Om, I've had the chance to try it out on multiple occassions, and on both Mac and PC's with mirrored results of ease of use, rapid channel shifting and perfect clarity.

This adds another dimension to what is rapidly becoming my communications vehicle of choice, not because they're a client, but because they have something very different that is beyond cool. It's just so very darn useful.
