Yahoo is heading in the same direction, but while Yahoo has Messenger, Google doesn't have an IM client yet. Maybe they will work with someone like Pulver or Popular Telephony. Heck, maybe they will work with XTEN. But you know one thing, Google going into the phone biz could mean an end to having to have your fingers do the walking through the yellow pages.

Don't also forget they own Blogger and have Picasa...a phone service with those apps are also very interesting.
