The folks at Engadget found this first, but I think it's interesting enough to go to the source.
A phone that works on both Skype and PSTN...and is wireless..Very cool.
VoIP is part of the reason the Canadian telecom market will see major shifts according to a new report. This comes on the heals of a story making the rounds in Canada of Bell Canada becoming a factor in VoIP.
Timing? Or, coincidence?
I've got the WiFi phone from Net2Phone at home along with one from BroadVoice and another from Zyxel that is connected to VoicePulse. The differences are in the firmware and very subtle.
As first generation equipment goes they are all okay...but I don't think ready for prime time. The sound and form factor is cellular circa 1990.
I've said it before, with VoIP it's all about the applications. Om pointed me to the VoIP Yawn which seems to have come to the same conclusion.
It appears that the RBOC's are ganging up on VoIP via a well coordinated effort that could have the same impacts as a DOS attack on a server. Read on.
For years I have suspected that the RBOC's seem to operate with some form of disconnected syncopation. This most recent filing and the SBC initiative keeps having me thinking that.
