Red Herring On VoWiFi

It's all about getting permission, and right now the carriers really don't want to give the permission to the WiFi market to switch, or maybe I should say, switch on to WiFI networks.

How stupid is that ?

Recently I was in a Las Vegas hotel and the cell reception on T-Mobile was so bad that two calls the night before to my cell didn't reach me until I got to Portland. Now let's think about this for a second. I'm in my hotel room with cell service supposidly rather weak. I leave the hotel at 745 AM and go to the airport, the entire time I never got the SMS message saying "you've got mail" waiting until after 10 AM when I arrived in Portland.

Why? My phone had gone to the bottom of the so called totem poll. But in my room, I had high speed internet and my SMC WiFi travel router. That meant that had the phone been WiFi enabled using the right network technology that I could have been on the network getting my calls, or at least the notification.

That's why I ask people to always call my main number, not my cell to reach me. With CallVantage or Webley the message end up in my e-mail box, and being that my laptop gets the mail, I don't miss the calls.
